In monastic life we address what we consider the ultimate meaning of life, rather than the less ultimate. We put ourselves in the context of a life of worship, not just a time or a day of worship. We come to seek God, and it's that seeking that becomes the underlying sustaining: the underpinning, the living root. The acid test, in the final analysis, is: Am I growing in love?
