The portfolio has been designed by Howard Gralla, who served on the design staffs of Macmillan, Doubleday, and the Yale Printing Office before becoming an independent designer. He has taught typography and book design at the Rochester Institute of Technology and Yale University, and has lectured widely in these fields. Included among his clients are the American Antiquarian Society, the Eakins Press Foundation, David R. Godine, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Pierpont Morgan Library, the National Gallery of Art, New York Graphic Society, the Whitney Museum of American Art, and Yale's Center for British Art and University Art Gallery.
